A girl with vitiligo overcome insecurity and became a successful model by overcoming her fear

Teenage insecurities about unattractive skin, misaligned teeth, or excess weight can follow us for the rest of our lives.

Stephanie Yashimura was able to transform something that caused her to be shunned into something she is now proud of. She also started to make money off of it.

She was 14 years old when she became aware of a white spot near her eye.

She turned to the physician and was informed that her dark skin will change. And one place was only the start. The condition is known as vitiligo.

By the way, this chronic illness, which is brought on by a lack of skin pigment cells (melanocytes), is incredibly uncommon. Less than 2% of people have this condition.

Stephanie first struggled with insecurity and covered up the skin parts where the unwanted spots had started to spread by wearing clothing.

80% of her skin has lost colour after six years.

The little girl’s refusal to accept such a turn of events led her to take drastic steps, including bleaching sections of her dark skin.

Although the surgery was successful, the youngster became aware that she was losing some of her personality.

She eventually made the decision to accept this characteristic, and in 2020, a makeup artist by chance noticed her. Despite her fear, the girl chose to go ahead with the photo shoot.

The public’s enthusiastic response to the images gave Stephanie confidence and inspired her to even contemplate a career as a model.

Afterwards, she launched her blog on Instagram with the intention of assisting others in accepting themselves.

The girl writes, «I hope my example will help people accept themselves and be happy here and now.
