A 70-year-old woman single-handedly cleaned 52 beaches: see the main and very interesting reason for this
People can accomplish a lot in a single year. Someone finally advances in their career, or someone welcomes a child into the world after a lengthy wait.
And a person achieves the required physical condition.
But, very few people did what the 70-year-old eco-activist Pat Smith did in one year around the world. She was successful in clearing 52 beaches in Devon and Cornwall, the home of her birth.
An old woman spent the entire year lounging on Cornwall’s and Devon’s well-known beaches.
She carried a number of rubber gloves, a number of rubbish bags, and a special stick with a pointed end for poking garbage.
The woman founded the environmental movement Last Straw Cornwall and also works on her own. «The majority of the trash I’ve gathered is regular household waste.
These are the leftovers from the items that we all use on a daily basis. And I find it shocking that people use them to contaminate our lovely beaches.

The activist keeps repeating that «we all must take responsibility for collecting trash, but it will be enough that none of us will leave it outside special receptacles and containers.»
The woman joked that anyone who pays for fitness lessons should support her cause. It’s free, environmentally friendly, and excellent for staying in shape.
Pat claims, «I hardly ever utilized a special stick, continuously stooping and picking up every piece of trash with my hands.»
Pat lists a man’s cap, an earring, crosses for laying tiles, electrical cables, and a dog carrier as some of the stranger things he’s discovered among the beach debris.
And how do they manage to leave all of stuff on the shore or in the water? Pat Smith feels offended.
