After obtaining his first pilot’s license at the age of 22, John Travolta, now 70, gives fans a peek as he attends a refresher course on flying a jet

In an intriguing new video that he uploaded on Instagram, veteran pilot and passionate pilot John Travolta offered his followers a close-up peek at his refresher course on piloting a large aircraft.

The 70-year-old movie legend reportedly owns at least seven aircraft and has eight jet licenses from decades of flying expertise.

In addition, he owns a mansion at Jumbolair Aviation Estates in Florida, a gated enclave spanning 550 acres that features the country’s largest licensed private airstrip.

That’s where John bought his house in 2001; it has its own private driveway. He has now given his five million+ Instagram followers an insight into how he maintains his competitive edge.

In the cockpit of a flight simulator, he recorded himself rehearsing what he would do in the horrifying situation of losing two engines at once.

With composure, he stated, «And now, we’re going to do engine out and then we’re gonna lose two of the three engines just for practice.»

He disclosed that he was presently enrolled in the Dassault Falcon 900EX program and clarified that «every year I have to do what they call recurrent jet training.»

In the case of John’s program, CAE Inc., originally Canadian Aviation Electronics, offers the four-day course in Dallas.Emergency situations in the cockpit are nothing new to John, as he recalls experiencing «a total electrical failure» in 1992 while flying his family.

He acknowledged, «I knew what it felt like to absolutely think you’re going to die,» in a November Fox News interview.

«I had two excellent jet engines, but I had no electric, no instruments, nothing.» And I believed it to be finished.

«Then, as if by a miracle, we descended, in accordance with the rules, to a lower altitude,» he disclosed.

By happenstance, he was able to land at Washington National Airport since he could see the Washington Monument and knew it was nearby.

John started his flight training at the age of fifteen, and in 1978, the year his legendary musical film Grease debuted in theaters and solidified his place in popular culture, he finally earned his first jet license.

His love of aviation is so well-known that the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum has honored him with a spot on its Wall of Honor.

The American Institute of Aeronautical Engineers has honored him and named him a global ambassador for Qantas.

John oversaw an extravagant event in 2002 that began a year-long celebration commemorating one hundred years of manned flight in Washington, DC.

He piloted his own Boeing 707 in the Dayton Airshow the following year, carrying John Glenn—the first American to orbit the planet—as his passenger.
