At the Brit Awards, Maya Jama and Ashley Roberts were among the first celebrities to walk the red carpet.
Jama, the Love Island host, 28, appeared at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday in a strapless black midi dress with gold accents.
Roberts, 41, a member of the Pussycat Dolls, wore a silver coordinated outfit with a midi skirt that had a provocative thigh-high slit.
Some of the early arrivals were former Love Island participant Zara McDermott, drag queen and DJ Jodie Harsh,
and YolanDa Brown, chairwoman of the British Phonographic Industry, which organizes Brits.
The heavy rock group Nova Twins, who are up for two Brit Award nominations,
walked the red carpet in colorful punk patchwork ensembles that they partly created and entirely constructed themselves.
Singer and guitarist Amy Love said to the PA news agency when asked about the dearth of female performers in the best artist category this year and a general lack of representation in the industry:
«It is putting them as headliners at festivals. Women rarely perform as festival headliners, particularly in bands. They repeatedly perform the same male behaviors.
«Once more, awards are elevating more women. Little Simz might have qualified for the best artist award. Simply encourage one another and be mindful of your own choices, in my opinion.
«However, the playing field is not yet level. Things are getting better and the conversation is still ongoing,
which is really, really fantastic. Of course, there is always room for improvement. We ought to carry on forward.
