Ballerina Michaela DePrince’s mother passes away just one day after her shocking death at the age of 29, leaving the family in shock
Just 24 hours after her daughter Michaela DePrince’s untimely death at the age of 29, the late ballerina’s mother passed suddenly.
According to a Facebook post by family representative Jessica Volinski, Elaine ‘Mamma E’ DePrince passed away on Wednesday, September 11, one day after the passing of her adopted daughter Michaela.
«The family has also been dealing with Michaela’s adoptive mother Elaine DePrince’s death, which has made the last few days even more difficult than most people realize,» Volinski wrote.
Elaine, her mother, passed away on September 11th, during a regular operation that was part of getting ready for surgery. Michaela passed away before Elaine, and Elaine was unaware of her death at the time of her operation.

As implausible as it may sound, there was no connection whatsoever between the two fatalities. The only thing that makes sense of the incomprehensible is that Elaine, who had previously experienced the loss of three children many years prior, was thankfully spared the agony of losing a fourth child.
«The family is currently experiencing unbearably agonizing circumstances.» Two family members passing away in the span of a single day is heartbreaking and devastating. We respect your right to privacy and appreciate you pointing anyone disseminating false information and conjecture to this post.
Michaela’s representative revealed her untimely passing on Friday. DePrince’s family has not disclosed the reason behind the young dancer’s passing. The orphan who fled war in Sierra Leone to become a world-famous ballerina captured the hearts of many.

It was revealed over the weekend that Michaela had left behind a spooky farewell Instagram post. She was wearing an all-black Nike outfit when she posted what would be her last photo, captioning it with a hand-gestured peace sign emoji.
The song «Better» by soul artist Khalid is also connected to the post. The lyrics of the song say, «Nothing feels better than this, nothing feels better.»
Originally named Mabinty Mangura, she spent her early years in an orphanage suffering from malnutrition and abuse. At the age of four, Elaine and Charles DePrince adopted her from New Jersey. Nine of the eleven children in the DePrince family were adopted.
When she participated in Dancing with the Stars at the age of 17, she shot to fame. She was most recognized for her feature-length performance in Beyonce’s «Lemonade» music video.
An official for DePrince said in a statement following her death on Friday that her ‘artistry touched many hearts and whose spirit inspired many, leaving an everlasting legacy on the world of ballet, and beyond.’
Her life was characterized by power, grace, and purpose. We will always be inspired by her unshakable dedication to her work, her humanitarian endeavors, and her bravery in facing insurmountable obstacles, the statement said.
She served as a ray of hope for a lot of people, demonstrating that greatness and beauty can emerge from the most desolate areas, despite all the odds.
Even though she was gone from us far too soon, her legacy and brilliance will live on in the hearts of all who were impacted by her tale for many years to come.

Her chosen family, friends, and all who loved her are in our thoughts and prayers. After her death, DePrince’s 30-year-old sister posted a heartfelt photo of the two as young kids on Instagram.
«I am truly in a state of shock and deep sadness,» the post stated. My lovely sister is no longer with us. Michaela (Mabinty) and I used to create and perform our own musical theater performances back when we were first together, back in Africa, sharing a mat for sleep.
The sister of the trailblazing ballerina kept raving about how much she loved her early years.»We made the ballets ourselves.» I would be the conductor and composer, and she would be the choreographer.

Our parents instantly poured into our dreams once we were adopted, creating the stunning, elegantly strong dancer that so many of you know her as today.
«My beautiful Butterfly, I love you,» the post’s last words said.DePrince was a fervent humanitarian who frequently spoke out in favor of kids impacted by violence and strife.
Her sister said on Instagram that she frequently «flew to third-world countries to provide orphans and children with dance classes» in addition to her role as an ambassador for War Child Holland.
DePrince’s family has requested donations to War Child, an organization the well-known ballerina sponsored, in instead of flowers.
During a 2012 interview with the Associated Press, DePrince talked of her realization that she wanted to be a dancer while in an orphanage.
She claimed to have seen a dancer on the cover of a magazine, and that «all I can remember is that she looked really, really happy.» She determined then and there ‘to become this exact person.’

‘I lost both my parents, so I was there (the orphanage) for nearly a year and I wasn’t treated very well because I had vitiligo (a skin problem),’ she told the site, describing her terrible background.
«We were given numbers, and since I was number 27, which was the least preferred, I received the least amount of food, clothing, and other items.»
