Bobby Bones Responds to Julianne Hough
Despite earning low marks from judges when fans chose him first, Bones won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2018. Bobby Bones is speaking out against the claims that he is the «worst dancer» in public.
On Sunday, August 18, Julianne Hough, 36, answered a viewer question on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen by being frank about a celebrity Dancing with the Stars winner she «strongly disagreed» with.
«Bobby Bones,» was the response given by fellow guest and country musician Mickey Guyton. Hough paused before responding, saying, «I actually agree with you and I think it’s because of the fan base.» On such show, the fan base is everything. He wasn’t the most skilled dancer.
Bones responded to the interview and expressed his affection for Hough, whom he’s «met a couple times» occasionally, in a video that he posted on his Instagram on August 19. He praised the dancer as «diplomatic,» then chastised Guyton for naming him.
«My dancing was the worst. And I’m proud of that,» he said. «Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then.»
«However, do you know who overthrew the powerful and evil dance empire? Well, it’s just the two of us—not evil or an empire! Together, we accomplished it «Bones went on.
«I am history’s greatest champion. I claimed to be the greatest champion of all time, not the best dancer. I am the people’s man. «I am the man you folks have chosen,» he went on, «But Mickey Guyton, really? I think Julianne Hough is cool.
He went on, «I’m a terrible dancer; in fact, I was a terrible dancer, but the fan vote was so strong that they changed the rules after I left.»
In 2018, Bones and DWTS pro Sharna Burgess won the mirrorball trophy. Even though the judges gave him low marks, he won the championship when America chose him as the victor. Second place went to Milo Manheim, followed by Evanna Lynch in third and Alexis Ren in fourth.
Soon after winning, the 44-year-old radio personality addressed the criticism he received from his performances and joked with PEOPLE that he planned to hang up his dancing shoes once.
At the time, he declared, «I’m never dancing again.» «I’ve given up on dancing. The dance was insane since I had no idea how difficult it would be. They are professional athletes, and you can tell by being around them and witnessing them perform.
He clarified, «The fans of that show on the internet were cruel to me.» «On that show, you didn’t adore me if people enjoyed dancing. I believe I was able to connect with someone if people love when others take risks, try something different, put their hearts out there, and feel uncomfortable. There was no way I could win over a ballroom enthusiast.
