Following her divorce, Christina Hall is returning to film The Flip Off without her estranged husband Josh
Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather, Christina’s ex-husband, were also featured in the HGTV series, which was meant to be a rivalry between the two couples.
Without Josh Hall, the Flip Off is moving forward full steam ahead, multiple sources tell PEOPLE.
According to insiders, the new HGTV series starring Christina Hall, Tarek El Moussa, and Heather Rae El Moussa has resumed filming without Josh, Christina’s estranged spouse, who filed for divorce on July 15.
The show, which the network previously revealed is scheduled to debut in 2025, initially paired Josh, 43, and Christina, 41, against Tarek El Moussa, Christina’s first husband, and Heather Rae El Moussa, a Selling Sunset alumna.
According to HGTV’s announcement, the two couples were to «compete to see who can find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain (and a chance at major bragging rights)» Christina’s partner’s removal from the competition leaves it unclear how it might be reorganized going forward.
The status of Josh’s engagement in the show and if his departure will affect its scheduled 2025 debut have not yet been confirmed by HGTV.
Designer James Bender, a close friend who assists in overseeing Christina’s numerous makeovers, is Christina’s right hand man on Christina on the Coast. The two had previously joined forces to take on the Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge on HGTV in 2023.
Josh and Christina from the Country singer filed for divorce on July 16; PEOPLE was able to secure a copy of the filing. Josh asked his now-estranged wife for spousal maintenance, citing «irreconcilable differences» as the basis for their divorce.
The Flip Off purposefully capitalized on the complex relationships between its actors in a number of its promotional campaigns.
In a May Instagram video, Christina highlights the similarities between herself and Heather Rae. The two ladies, along with Tarek, are dressed in matching black tops and trousers, and they seem to be puzzled about who is who.
Another promotional video features Christina and Heather pretending to argue as they perform «I Don’t F— With You,» a song by rapper Big Sean.
Another image captioned «When your husband tells you we’re filming a show with his ex-wife» features Heather escorting Tarek out of their home.
On July 2, Christina spoke with E! News about the «interesting» connections between the cast members of The Flip Off, before word broke that her husband had filed for divorce.
«There are many powerful personalities and a multitude of dynamics present.» It’s going to be quite fascinating,» she remarked.
In 2009, Christina wed Tarek, her first spouse. They started their first HGTV program together, Flip or Flop, in 2013. They have two children together, Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8. They filmed the series till 2022 after getting divorced in 2016.
After dating for a while in 2019, Tarek and Heather Rae tied the knot in October 2021. The pair first featured together on Selling Sunset’s fourth season. In March 2023, they made their HGTV television series debut, The Flipping El Moussas.
Christina was formerly wed from December 2018 to September 2020 to British automotive expert and TV broadcaster Ant Anstead. Together, Hudson London, age four, is their only child.
Josh and Christina, who co-filmed the television series Christina in the Country and Christina in the Country, were first connected in July 2021. Their marriage was officially announced by PEOPLE in April 2022. They were legally married on October 6, 2021, six months earlier, according to Josh’s divorce papers.
