Hailey Bieber admitted that after a miոi stroke she could not recover for a year
As she celebrated the achievement of overcoming her horrific mini-stroke a year later, Hailey Baldwin revealed a little bit more about it.
On Friday, March 10, the model and Justin Bieber’s wife posted on her Instagram about the «life-changing experience» that led to the diagnosis of her patent foramen ovale (PFO).
Can’t believe it’s been a year since my mini-stroke, which resulted in the discovery of my PFO, Hailey said. She continued, «Consider that it’s been a year since such a life-changing occurrence,
I wanted to share all the information I’ve learned about PFO and provide resources to contribute.»
Hailey continued to discuss the incident and the PFO diagnosis, which is a «hole in the heart that didn’t close after birth,»
according to the Mayo Clinic, on her Instagram Stories in the 12-minute video that accompanied it.
Hailey stated that after the mini-stroke, her arm felt numb, her husband Justin asked her if she was okay, and the pop singer immediately dialed 911.
Hailey had the PFO closed in the hospital on her doctor’s advice, and she has since fully healed. «I just feel extremely relieved that we were able to figure everything out,
that we were able to get it closed, and that I will be able to move on from this really scary scenario and just live my life,» she said.
During The Run-Through with Vogue podcast two months ago, Hailey spoke openly about her hospitalization and claimed she suffers «PTSD» as a result.
It was undoubtedly the worst thing Hailey had ever experienced, she said after describing the event as «extremely unsettling.»
I really struggled with anxiety after that,» she continued. I had some PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder] symptoms, including the dread that it would happen again.
I simply felt like I never wanted to go through that feeling again. In every single aspect you could think of, it was horrifying, shocking, and disorienting.
In March, when the initial reports of Hailey’s health scare surfaced, she took to Instagram to update her followers on the situation.
I was getting symptoms similar to a stroke on Thursday morning while eating breakfast with my spouse when I was transported to the hospital, she wrote.
They discovered that I had a very small blood clot in my brain that had caused a slight lack of oxygen, but my body had already cleared it and I had fully recovered within a few hours.
She went on: «Even though this was undoubtedly one of the scariest experiences of my life, I’m home now and doing well,
and I’m incredibly appreciative to all the wonderful medical professionals that cared for me! I appreciate all the well wishes, care, love, and support I have received from everyone.
Even now, months later, whenever Hailey returns to Palm Springs, the location of the incident, she becomes «triggered».
She said on the podcast that returning here after the first few times was a little bit of
an odd triggering experience for her because she could still clearly recall everything that had transpired at the time.
The good news, in my opinion, is that it helped me realize I had a hole in my heart.
