In response to gossip, Irina Shayk came out in defense of the lion-head dress she and Kylie Jenner wore.
Paws off! In response to criticism of one of her outfits from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Irina Shayk fought back vehemently. When the fashion house Schiaparelli unveiled a dress with a disturbingly lifelike lion’s head reproduction on the front, there was a lot of protest. Prior to the presentation on January 23, 2023, Kylie Jenner also wore a variation of the dress that Irina wore down the runway.

People were upset even though the faux lion was constructed entirely of fabric, resin paint, and foam. Many remarked that although being «cruelty-free,» the black velvet column dress and faux taxidermy nevertheless praised poaching and the use of pelts.
Irina, however, took sure to defend the authors of the work in an Instagram post on January 23, 2023. The model mother-of-one wrote, «I support these extraordinary artisans who worked diligently with their hands, using wool, silk, and foam, to build this embroidered Lion, and image of Pride.

«An illustration by @schiaparelli that explores notions of power. I feel privileged to have been asked to contribute my artistic talent to this as a woman. Daniel Rosenberry, the creative director of the clothing line, was mentioned in the homage.
The designers and tailors who spent countless hours creating the garment were depicted in the carousel of images. Additionally, concept designs for the dress were included in the article, along with behind-the-scenes pictures from fittings and close-up shots of her shoes, which resembled dark feet with gold toenails.

Online, Schiaparelli defended the style, claiming «no animals were hurt in the production of this look.» The artwork «celebrates the splendor of the natural world by hand-sculpting foam [and] wool and silk faux fur, and hand-painting to look as lifelike as possible.»

One of the outfit’ many critics was model and animal rights activist Christie Brinkley, who called the ensemble «sickening» and a «fashion faux paw» in an Instagram comment, as reported by Newsweek. She said, «It seems like the models picked up the vicious hunters’ carpet and wrapped the severed heads around themselves to be seen as a fashionable object of beauty. The harshness and ignorance of humans are symbolized by pelts.
