Javier Bardem pays a touching homage to Penelope Cruz at the San Sebastian Film Festival while they hold hands
On Friday night, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem lit up the San Sebastián Film Festival.
During the opening night gala at the Kursaal Theater, the attractive 50-year-old actress and the handsome 55-year-old actor, who have been married since 2010, stole the show as they walked the red carpet together.
The Oscar-winning actress captured the glamour of a movie star in an exquisite sheer white gown with a black bow around the neckline. Her handsome spouse, who was also honored with an Academy Award, looked elegant in a classic black and white tuxedo.

Bardem was noticeably moved during the Spanish event when he accepted the Donostia Lifetime Achievement Award and complimented his wife.
«To a woman I love and have shared my life with, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the human being you are and how you can be in charge of life—yours, your children’s, your family’s, your mother’s, your friends’, the lives of others, the many people you are unaware of but who you suffer for and take care of, and most definitely the lives of this gentleman who is here, who loves you and is very grateful for it,» he said, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Bardem was quick to thank Cruz for their two kids, Leo, 12, and Luna, 10, as he blew kisses playfully toward her seat, according to the site.

In an honest interview with Elle published in January, Penelope discussed their marriage in detail. She disclosed how Javier’s humorous impressions amuse their family.
«He sings and dances really well,» she remarked. And he pulls off this incredible Mick Jagger impression. He’ll mimic the exchange between Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. It’s amazing.
She replied, «Really, any situation,» in response to his inquiries about when he lets loose with his impressions and whether they happened around the dinner table.
The mother of two also discussed her coping mechanisms with the more «uncomfortable and painful» roles she plays in an interview with the fashion magazine.
Penelope talked about controlling her empathy for her characters, acknowledging that this is a topic she frequently addresses in therapy.
One of the key issues I address in therapy is finding a balance that allows me to continue experiencing those things without taking them personally. [The characters I play] can be painful and uncomfortable at times.

Even though it’s difficult to say goodbye, I always feel like they’ve increased my compassion level by a tiny amount by the end of the two months. This is not your reality, even with the safety net that you are aware of. In every aspect of my life, it fosters more compassion and less judgment.
Penelope is not just intensely private and protective of her own feelings, but also of her two small children.
«It’s up to them to decide whether or not they want a job that involves more public exposure,» she stated. When they’re ready, they can discuss that.
Not only do her kids lack social media profiles, but they also don’t have phones, which should come as no surprise.
«It’s so easy to be manipulated,» Penelope remarked, «especially if you have a developing brain.» And who foots the bill? Not our generation, who maybe figured out how to operate a BlackBerry at the age of 25. It’s an inhumane experiment performed on minors and teenagers.
