Katy Perry accidentally made a pretty cheeky joke on live radio and was left red-faced
After unintentionally cracking a very sly joke live on Capital Breakfast radio on Monday morning, Katy Perry was left looking flushed.
When the 39-year-old singer made the amusing mistake, she was promoting her comeback track Woman’s World on the radio.
She was asked about her status as an honorary Brit because of her English fiancé Orlando Bloom during an interview with broadcasters Kemi Rodgers and Jordan North.
‘Does your spouse Orlando have any British traditions that you’ve picked up over the years and adopted as your own?’ Kemi then questioned.
Unthinking, Katy shot back, ‘He won’t let me leave the bag in!’
Jordan then stammered, «I beg your pardon!?» as scared Katy corrected him, «Tea bag! Tea!»
They quickly resumed the interview after they had stopped laughing, telling her, «Please tell me you don’t make tea in the microwave like a lot of Americans…»
«No freaking way, no way, get that out of here,» was her response. Orlando is completely enamored with the PG tips that are all over the place. I learned how to brew a proper cup of tea from him. A constructors?
«Yes, a builder,» Jordan answered.
«I think he is embracing the British life,» Chris Stark, a presenter on Capital, continued. «I actually saw him in a local pub, and this is a true story.» I had no idea how amazing a vocalist he was…
«On St Patrick’s Day, I was in the same pub as him, but I had no idea he was there. He got up and began singing this old Irish folk song.»
«Well, after a couple of pints he is good yeah!» was Katy’s response.
I’ve known him for more than nine years; don’t you think he has any other talents? He’s amazing!
Katy’s radio appearance follows DailyMail.com’s revelation that she is «pointing the fingers at everyone but herself» in the wake of Woman’s World, her comeback single, failing to top the charts.
According to insiders, she is frantically trying to think of a fresh strategy to salvage her musical comeback.
This month, the singer released the lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album, 143. Despite being hailed as an uplifting female anthem, the song was swiftly criticized for being predictable, uninspired, and hypocritical.
Along with the sexualized character of the accompanying video, the Teenage Dream hitmaker was criticized for her choice to collaborate with 50-year-old music producer Dr. Luke following his widely reported court spat with 37-year-old Tick Tock singer Kesha.
Less than a week after the single’s July 11 release, it has crashed down the US iTunes chart. Katy is reportedly «freaking out» and insisting that her team go «back to the drawing board» to prevent her album from meeting the same fate.
An insider exclusively told DailyMail.com, «Katy is freaking out right now because she is very aware of the feedback that Woman’s World is getting.»
«She is blaming everybody but herself, even though it is her own fault.»
The biggest risk Katy had taken, according to the source, was getting back in touch with Dr. Luke, the music producer who produced her blockbuster songs, I Kissed a Girl (2008) and California Gurls (2010), before Kesha accused him of abusing her sexually and physically.
Łukasz Gottwald, the great producer, refuted all accusations, including Kesha’s, which she shut down, that he had sexually assaulted Katy.
Kesha was found not guilty by a New York state judge in 2020, finding that Kesha had defamed her former producer with the claim. The ruling was affirmed by an appeals court in 2021.
After Kesha’s accusations, music fans have been outspoken in their contempt for any musician who chooses to collaborate with the hitmaker, even if the two reached a settlement in 2023.
Some of Katy’s supporters have defended the celebrity by asserting that contractual requirements compelled her to collaborate with Dr. Luke. However, Katy has already stated that she is not connected to the producer.
Katy stated that she had only ever signed a three-album publishing deal with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records and that the two were no longer in a contractual relationship during her 2018 deposition for Kesha’s lawsuit against Dr. Luke.
She also acknowledged the potential backlash from the public should she decide to work with Dr. Luke in the midst of Kesha’s feud.
«Collaborating with him at this time would entail—would not be—would not be well received due to this lawsuit,» she said.
The singer of Dark Horse was asked if she believed that collaborating with Dr. Luke would affect the success of a future album. She said, «[People would] protest against it, a smear campaign, just 20 different narratives than the one that I am.»
The insider verified that Katy had disregarded requests not to work with Dr. Luke on the upcoming album, following DailyMail.com’s earlier report that the Roar singer had been cautioned not to.
«She was crazy to have thought that Dr. Luke would be a good idea.» The insider claimed, «She didn’t listen to anyone.» «Rather than delving deeply and producing art, she released something that sounded like it belonged on one of her 2010 albums.»
Along with collaborating with the producer, Katy wrote the majority of the song with males.
Dr. Luke, Aaron Joseph, Rocco, and Vaughn Oliver Achieved Success Once More! all contributed to the song’s co-writing and production; Katy and Chloe Angelides were the sole female writers.
The record was not created by a single woman.
The source stated, «You don’t make a song about female empowerment with basically all men.»
«Katy lives in her own little world as a celebrity, so she is unable to relate to other women.» She is ignorant of the realities of being a woman in the real world.
«She is utilizing her celebrity status not to improve the world, but rather to increase her wealth.»
