Katy Perry Called ‘Mean Girl’ After This Interview
Following the resurfacing of an old interview in which Katy Perry made fun of Mariah Carey, the actress has come under heavy criticism on social media.
In the 2014 clip, Perry is seen responding to host Samantha Armytage’s kind description of her as the «biggest female entertainer in the world» on the Australian breakfast television show Sunrise.
«No, I’m not; of course Beyoncé is!» In response, the American pop star joked, «Do not blaspheme.»
The hosts of the show then read aloud a message from a fan expressing her belief that Mariah Carey actually should have won the award.
Katy angrily said, «I mean, she’s fabulous… for a throwback,» before continuing, «We love Fantasy, I love Honey.» When I was younger, I listened to all those tunes.

The interview was not well received by social media users on X; it went viral again this week.
One user said, «It’s okay, we all know Katy flopped,» while another wrote, «Karma is a b**ch.»
She is a cruel young lady. Another person said, «She did the same with Britney,» while a third person questioned, «Why was she like this omg?»
One person said, «I would rather be a throwback than throw up,» and another said, «This aged like breast milk in an old woman.»
Another observed, «And now look at her flopping and working with Dr. Luke,» and a third added, «She predicted her own future.»

Another person added, stating, ‘She jinxed herself so horribly by saying this because things started to go south soon after’.
It happens at the same time as critics are disparaging Katy’s comeback single Woman’s World, calling it a «monumental catastrophe» that sounds like «reheated» Lady Gaga.
The 39-year-old released the song on Thursday, along with a visually stunning music video featuring her swaying in skimpy American flag underwear.
Numerous well-known magazines have now released their harsh assessments of the song; one even went so far as to claim that it «made me feel stupider every time I listened to it.»
Pitchfork gave Woman’s World a particularly critical review, saying that Katy «had to have feminism explained to her by the top half of the first page of Google» due to the song’s empowering theme.

The pop singer’s return tune defies all sense of taste and is too depressing to even consider going to camp. Shaad D’Souza of the outlet wrote, «It’s appalling.»
Said to have ‘obviously based’ her song after Gaga’s 2020 hit Stupid Love, Katy produced a clone that was ‘unfathomably insipid, boring at best.’
The Guardian gave Woman’s World a harsh one-star review, calling it sounding like «reheated Gaga» and «brazenly» ripping off the Chappell Roan song Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl.
Critic Laura Snapes was scathing of Katy for her ‘dated effort at composing a feminist anthem’ and her ‘blatant grasps for gay standom,’ calling her out for ‘winking at drag culture so hard you suspect she’d bust a hernia if her abs weren’t hard as armor.’
In the video, Katy yells, «I’m Katy Perry!» and it «sounds less like a roar of triumph than the echoing cry of someone falling down a large ravine,» the speaker continued.

In a biting review for Dazed, Alim Kheraj said, «Woman’s World sounds like it was designed by a committee in a boardroom at Capitol Records whose sole objective was a sync on RuPaul’s Drag Race and generating comments of ‘you ate’ from white gays living in West Hollywood.»
The Cut of New York magazine wrote that Katy was «a 2010s relic» and that Woman’s World was «so forgettable, so cringe.»
Critic Cat Zhang for the journal said, «Perry is like Barbie in Barbie Land, stuck in a la-di-dah dimension in which Hillary Clinton is still the Democratic presidential nominee, ‘Male Tears’ mugs make bank on Etsy, and the most transgressive thing a celebrity can do is sing Fight Song.»

The song ‘fell as flat as the bottom of the anvil that crushes Perry midway through the music video,’ with ‘lyrics that actually felt AI generated,’ according to Mary Siroky’s review for Consequence Of Sound.
The lead track from Katy’s new album 143, her first album after welcoming her three-year-old daughter Daisy with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, is titled Woman’s World.
«The first contribution I have given since becoming a mother and since feeling really connected to my feminine divine,» is how Katy put the song.
She had already released an album during the COVID-19 lockdowns, named Smile, which made its appearance in August 2020 to a lackluster reception.
