Sofia Vergara posed with a new dog in an image shared to Instagram on Sunday evening.
The Colombia born beauty was holding a furry small dog as she enjoyed a ‘summer night’ at her backyard in Los Angeles with pals.
The Modern Family star looked content with her fur child in her arms.
This comes after DailyMail.com’s exclusive report that she ‘graciously’ handed over her senior dog Bubbles, 10, to her estranged husband Joe Manganiello.
It is not known if Sofia will get visitation rights of Bubbles.
The couple announced their split on July 17 with a statement shared to social media.
Ten-year-old fuzzball Bubbles is a Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix.
The pair have famously argued over the pooch on social media, often joking the pet likes Joe more.
The two have no children together which will make the divorce proceedings a bit easier (Sofia’s son Manolo was from her first marriage).
According to California law, a judge can weigh in on who should get pets.
In January 2019, a new California law changed the way pet custody is handled in divorce cases.
This new law gives judges the power to consider the care and the best interest of the pet when making decisions in separation or divorce matters.
Before 2019, California courts treated pets like property. The pet would be considered a part of the property to be divided when the marriage ended.
Often judges would base their decision on which party purchased or adopted the animal. Judges had a lot of say in who got the dog and who would just visit.
Pets are still technically classified as personal property, but this new law takes more into consideration.
