Takeover Glastonbury by Coldplay! Amidst his Parkinson’s struggle, the crowd goes berserk as Michael J. Fox, 63, unexpectedly makes an appearance on stage during the band’s record-breaking fifth headline set
Michael J. Fox surprised Glastonbury on Saturday by making an unexpected appearance during Coldplay’s historic headline performance.
The 63-year-old Back to the Future star, who is battling Parkinson’s disease, emerged on stage in a wheelchair to play the guitar during Fix You and Humankind, leaving the 100,000-strong throng and BBC viewers in tears.
For the band, it was a historic occasion as they became the first act to headline Glastonbury five times. Chris Martin, 47, acknowledged Michael as the «main reason» they are a group.

«We’re in a band because we watched ‘Back to the Future,’ so thank you to Mr. Michael J. Fox, our hero for eternity and one of the most amazing people on Earth,» he stated. Michael, thank you so much.
The British band played as headliners in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016 after making their festival debut in the New Bands Tent in 1999.
The vocalist serenaded Glastonbury creator Michael Eavis after the camera panned over the crowd, and then the audience saw the well-liked Hollywood actor.
«Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox,» Chris sang, introducing another great Michael who «just totally rocks» with his Chuck Berry quiff and the way he smacked [Back To The Future villain] Biff.
At the age of thirty, the actor—who is an enthusiastic musician and is best known for playing the guitar in the classic 1985 sci-fi film—was initially diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1991. He only made the public announcement of his diagnosis in 1998.

In 2000, two years after disclosing his illness to the public, Michael established The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Since then, the organization he and his 36-year wife Tracy Pollan created has raised more than $2 billion for research on Parkinson’s disease.
His unexpected entrance when he joined the group in a performance of their smash song Fix You put the audience in «tears.»

The band began their historic concert fifteen minutes late, but when the sea of festival attendees joined in song, they launched with the 2000 smash Yellow.
