Exactly this is what Gene Purdy had to go through. He was born with a retinal condition that prevents him from seeing. He occasionally notices a few foggy areas, but that is all.
He wasn’t diagnosed till he was 16 years old. But despite having a disease, he nevertheless managed to fall in love with a woman named Joy. They soon had a son after being married.
Gene had no idea how his family looked all these time.
Gene’s wife once saw a person with the same illness on the Rachel Ray show. With the use of unique technology, she was granted the chance to see.
A cutting-edge eyeglasses firm gave this woman specialized electronic eyewear. Joy was shocked to learn that there was a cure for her illness.
She made the decision to submit an application for this program with the hope of giving their family the same fantastic opportunity.
After getting a favorable response, her entire family traveled to Denver to shoot the episode.
On stage, Gene was unable to remain still. He was apprehensive and doubted that his fantasy would now come true.
The audience thought that when glasses were presented to him, they did not function. But Gene remarked in three words, «She’s beautiful,» as he turned to face his wife.
