At last, Jamie Foxx has opened up about the events that led to his unexplained hospitalization in April of 2023.
During filming Back in Action in Atlanta with Cameron Diaz, the 56-year-old actor was admitted to the hospital due to an undisclosed medical emergency.
Later, the star revealed he was left unable to walk and’saw the tunnel but not the light’ as he fought for his life.
Foxx was seen on camera in Phoenix talking to the public about his medical issue. He disclosed that it started with «a bad headache,» for which he «asked for Advil,» and that he woke up nearly three weeks later with no memory of the incident.
Oscar-winning As the crowd surrounding him gasped, Foxx snapped his fingers and exclaimed, «I was gone for 20 days.» He continued, saying he «does not remember anything.»

The Ray actor claimed that after being taken to his «first doctor» by his sister and daughter, the next physician pointed to his head and remarked, «[There’s] something going on up there.»
«I won’t say it on camera,» he then declared.
In December 2023, Foxx made his first public appearance since his shocking health scare at the Critics Choice Association event, sharing that he’saw the tunnel but not the light’ while opening up about his near-death experience.
The actor gave a moving 12-minute address at the association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles, during which he won the Vanguard Award.

According to Deadline, Foxx acknowledged that he was unable to «walk» six months prior, but he withheld certain information on the health issue that sent him to the hospital.
Strutting across the stage to the microphone, he added, «You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago.» «I was genuinely unable to walk.»
Thank you to all of you. To riotous cheers, he continued, «I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things.»
«It’s different now; I cherish every minute,» he said. «It’s difficult when it’s almost over… when you see the light at the end of the tunnel,» I would not wish what I went through on my worst enemy. I did not see the light; I only saw the tunnel.
«I don’t know where I was going, and it was really hot in that tunnel.» «S**t, am I heading in the correct direction?»

He also poked fun at a few of the ludicrous conspiracy theories that went viral during his hospital stay and subsequent months-long exile from the public eye during his 12-minute address.
«I’m not a clone, I assure you.» There are several people I know who have claimed that I am a clone.
«Life now has a new meaning for me.» As his lecture came to a close, he said, «I have a new respect for my art.»
Foxx also expressed gratitude and admiration for his family, mentioning his sister and daughter in particular, for their assistance in taking care of him during his recovery.
Foxx received his prize near the beginning of the ceremony, but it wasn’t revealed beforehand like it was for the other awardees.
Additionally, he stated to The Hollywood Reporter, «I have a new respect for my art and for life.» In an attempt to pass the time, I listened to and watched a ton of movies.

«Jamie is doing so much better and he’s starting to feel like himself again,» a source told USWeekly. He is still being cautious and isn’t fully recovered, but he is unquestionably making progress.
It was mentioned that Foxx ‘has a tremendous support system around him and his friends and family are making sure that he doesn’t take on too much.’
«Foxx is in great health and can’t wait to return to work when the time is right.»
He went back to work on his Netflix movie Back in Action as well as Beat Shazam.
Alongside Foxx as Matt, Cameron Diaz plays Emily, who came out of retirement to star in her first movie since Foxx and Diaz’s 2014 picture Annie.
Their fictional characters are former CIA agents who left the field of espionage behind to raise a family.
The description states that they are «unexpectedly pulled back into the world of international espionage when their cover is blown.»

On January 21, the movie’s production got back underway. It will be released on November 15 of this year.
Foxx stated in April that he would share the specifics of his health scare in a forthcoming comedy special.
He’s doing ‘great’ at pickleball, according to his 30-year-old daughter Corrine, who co-stars with her father on the Fox sitcom Beat Shazam, ET previously reported.
«He’s doing incredible, he’s doing so great.» She remarked, «I’m really appreciative that I get to work on (Beat Shazam) with him and spend so much time with him.»

He’s got a lot of pickleball practice! She remarked, «That man and pickleball—it’s like he plays twice a day, every day.»
‘It’s a complete thing,’ Corrine continued, speaking of her father’s recent basketball fixation. He is totally immersed in it.
Corrine recently announced her engagement to Joe Hooten, sharing how her fiancé won her father over while visiting Hawaii.
«All of my family members are not proficient swimmers, so we were on a snorkeling tour in Hawaii.» «So, everyone starts drowning and we’re all in the middle of the ocean,» she said.
My fiancé dipped in and brought some back one by one, one by one. Dad told me, ‘He’s a keeper! The family was spared by him,» Corrine said.
