I hit the brakes on my path to fame. Chappell Roan opens up

In an honest conversation, Chappell Roan talked about her rapid ascent to popularity and said she has «pumped the brakes» on it.

The 26-year-old Hot To Go singer, who has previously sung backing vocals for Olivia Rodrigo, talked about handling attention on the latest episode of The Comment Section podcast, which aired on Wednesday.

She said to host Drew Afualo, «People have started to be freaks, like, [they] follow me and know where my parents live and where my sister works.» «All this strange sh*t.»

Known as «Gen Z’s Madonna,» Roan revealed that she had vowed to herself that she would cease recording music if fans gave her «stalker vibes» or made her feel as though her family was in danger.

And we are there, Chappell said emphatically. «I have essentially stopped doing anything to increase my visibility because I feel like I’m in a war.»

The singer for Pink Pony Club acknowledged, «Right now, it’s kind of like a forest fire.» I’m not attempting to go do a lot of shit.

She did, however, also discuss the advantages of celebrity, such as becoming recognized by celebrities she had long admired. It’s disgusting that people who I’ve always looked up to are now considered peers.

She added, «You don’t know that you were my first concert when the Jonas Brothers were opening for you.» That was my reaction when Miley [Cyrus] asked me to a party.

June was the month that Roan, whose true name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, broke down in tears at a Raleigh, North Carolina, concert.

«I guess I just want to be honest with the crowd,» she said to her followers as she broke down in tears on stage.

She said to the live audience, «I just feel a little off today because I think that my career is going really fast and it’s really hard to keep up.» «I just wanted to be honest and say that I’m having a rough day.»

‘I’m not trying to offer you, like, a worse concert,’ she assured her fans. Simply put, there are a lot ofI appreciate your understanding. All I’ve ever desired is this. Sometimes, it’s just hefty, I believe.

She also discussed what she missed most before her ascent to prominence on the podcast episode.

«[Using] drugs in public places.» I miss that. Like, rolling up, acting like a f***ing freak, or flirting with someone at the bar,’ she remarked.

«I obviously miss frolicking because I feel self-conscious about it now,» Chappell continued. «I also miss being in a Forever 21 and not feeling judged.»

Most of the time I’m hiding. However, I miss taking solo strolls around the city. I suppose what I miss is being by myself.

In a June TikTok video, she also opened up to her followers, saying that life has been «cuckoo,» but other singers in the business have offered to help, according to People.

«I’m thinking back on my life, and these last few weeks have been crazy.» That being said, the pop females that you and I have loved our entire lives are what’s both comforting and fucking sick.

Or have been f***ing stans [of] the last two or three years; many of them have been in touch with me and are such girl’s girls and supportive.

‘To have individuals I look up to reach out and offer like a friend or help, I don’t know, it’s just sick and it makes me believe in the world,’ said Roan.

Under Atlanta Records, the songwriter’s EP, School Nights, was published in 2017. She released the song «Pink Pony Club» in 2020, three years later.

Her debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, was released by Island Records in September of last year.

The album appeared on several charts across the world and peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Additionally, Midwest Princess debuted at number four on the Australian Albums list and number five on the UK Albums chart.

When she accompanied Olivia Rodrigo on her Guts World Tour earlier this year as the opening act for some of the concerts, she became even more well-known.

Chappell released her single «Good Luck, Babe!» in April, and she sang the song live at The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and the 2024 Coachella Music Festival.

As she continues her Midwest Princess Tour, Roan has just revealed more dates for the fall, during which she will visit states including Texas, New York, and Maryland.

The trip is scheduled to conclude on October 11 and started in September of 2023.

She’s scheduled to stop in Seattle on Friday, then go to Chicago and Montreal, Canada. Before leaving for North America in September, she will also play shows in London, Paris, Glasgow, and other cities in the United Kingdom and Europe.
